Young Named All-Pac-10; Gibson Named To Pac-10 All-Freshman Team

Junior Nick Young was selected to the All-Pac-10 first team, Taj Gibson to the Pac-10 All-Freshman team and Lodrick Stewart and Gabe Pruitt were named honorable mention All-Pac-10 it was announced today by Pac-10 Commissioner Tom Hansen.

Young was named All-Pac-10 for his second straight year as he averaged 17.5 points and 4.5 rebounds this season, including an 18.5 average in conference games alone. Young surpassed the 1,000 career points scored mark earlier this season and currently ranks 12th all-time at USC in points scored. Young has scored in double figures in his last 19 games and in 28 of the 31 games USC has played this season.

Gibson was one of six players selected to the Pac-10 All-Freshman team, following one of the best first seasons ever by a Trojan. Gibson set the USC freshman record for blocks (56) and rebounds (258) in a season and ranks in the top five all-time by Trojan freshmen in free throws attempted (131), free throws made (79), points (365) and field goal percentage (.579). Gibson currently leads all Pac-10 players in field goal percentage and is second in the conference in total blocks.

Stewart was an honorable mention All-Pac-10 selection, as he averaged 14.3 points and 3.7 rebounds as a senior. The sharp-shooting Stewart surpassed the 1,000 points scored mark early in the season and currenly ranks 11th all-time at USC. Stewart had made 68 three-pointers this season and his career total of 223 is a new USC record, passing the old mark of 218 by Brandon Granville (1999-02).

Pruitt was an honorable metion selection as he averaged 12.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists in his junior season. Pruitt missed most of the non-conference schedule due to academic ineligibility, but returned in mid-December and started all 18 conference games. In conference play only, Pruitt averaged 13.3 points 2.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.8 steals per game. Pruitt also surpassed the 1,000 points scored mark in scoring and currently ranks sixth all-time in three-point field goals made by a Trojan. Pruitt was a Pac-10 first-team selection in 2006.
