Two of the nation's best boys high school teams played on a recent evening in Bloomington, and the host team emerged victorious in a hard-fought game.
DCD entered the game ranked No. 4 by U.S.A. Today and Bloomington South was right behind at No. 5. It was Country Day's first loss in 19 games while Bloomington, Indiana's top-ranked team, hiked its record to a perfect 19-0.
Country Day trailed by two at halftime, but staged a second-half rally to take a seven-point fourth-qaurter lead.
"We had a chance to push our lead up to 10 points, but we couldn't do it," said DCD head coach Kurt Keener. "(South) came back on the strength of a few turnovers by us to win the game."
Bloomington shot 22-30 from the free-throw line, while DCD hit 10-14 free throws.
Junior guard Ray McCallum and sophomore center Amir Williams each scored 17 points to lead the visiting Yellow Jackets. Senior forward Jordan Dumars also hit double figures with 14 points.
Williams had 14 rebounds off the bench to register a double-double. Starting center DaShonte Riley had 12 rebounds and six blocked shots.
Bloomington's Jordan Hulls, a senior guard recruited by Indiana University, finished with a game-high 23 points. Sophomore guards Darwin Davis and Spencer Turner netted 14 points each.

Jamell Harris grabbed 10 rebounds for the Eagles (8-10, 3-1 Mid-American), who won their second in a row. Nate Hutcheson scored 21 points and Matt Stainbrook 12 for the Broncos (8-10, 2-2).
